So you’ve finally ditched your bulky fax machine in favor of online faxing in order to save on paper and ink. In these tough economic times, a paperless office seems like a wise idea – especially when you have so many digital tools at your disposal. However, there are times when documents need signatures, and if you don’t know how to sign documents electronically, this may mean having to print, sign and scan every document before faxing it back.
In only four simple steps, you can create an electronic signature for any document.
In a nutshell, all you need to do is:
- Sign a blank sheet of paper.
- Scan or fax the signature to yourself in order to digitize it.
- Create a bitmap using a simple graphic editing program like Microsoft Paint or Photoshop.
- Open the RingCentral Call Controller, add the signature to the stamp gallery and start adding your electronic signature to any document with a simple click.

Pretty simple instructions, but what happens if you’ve already gotten rid of your fax machine and scanner or simply don’t have one? Digital Inspiration made some great suggestions on a recent blog post that include downloading apps to your iPhone like “Fountain Pen” or “Sketch Pad”; taking a photo of your John Hancock with your digital camera; or using a web-based program like Live Signature to get your signature digitized. It all may sound a little daunting, but keep in mind that digitizing your signature is a one-time event that can get you much closer to a true paperless office.

When are we going to see these great features for Android phones? There is only 1 iPhone on 1 network and dozens of android enabled phones on EVERY network. The market place is expanding rapidly, and I predict within 18 months will equal or surpass that of the Apple app marketplace. Many people are moving to this popular format and yet we are being neglected by the companies we trust for our most important business functions. I would like to send a fax from my phone and have a signature, but cannot because I do not have an iPhone…
I agree with Johnny, with one change. I would love to see the RingCentral app for Blackberry, which has been around long before iphone and Android and is used a lot in my industry.
Please have a RingCentral app for the Blackberry asap. SUch a great market for such a great product like RingCentral
As a developer, RIM (blackberry) is not an easy platform to develop for / Android having the multiple distros (flavors) of the operating system on the market makes it difficult since we have to develop for Motorola’s platform, HTC’s various flavors they run off of, and now the Google Nexus phone (using the latest version of the OS).
Until Android standardizes a lot of the Applications will have to be written for iPhone SDK first and other platforms will fall behind.
Android RC application would be great since most VOIP customers are a bit more progressive users anyways and would be more prone to having a non-Apple handset.
When will RingCentral add VOIP to the iPhone app?
The mac version of Call Controller does not have a Stamp Gallery Option. Am I missing something?

I also agree with Johnny. My G phone is with me all the time . I would like to see Ringcentral App ported to Andriod
I would love to be able to at least do a RingOut in my Blackberry, that way my customers would only see and record my office number when I call them. I do consulting work and when customers get a hold of my cell phone number I become their personal consultant 24×7 instead of going through the phone system.
When I make out going calls from my iPhone Ringcentral app, it eats the iPhone minutes as well as the Ringcentral minutes.
At least when I’m connected to WiFi, I would like to see that it doesn’t eat my iPhone minutes.
Here’s another vote for Android. Ring Central would become critical to my operations if it had an Android application.
This doesn’t sound very secure to me… Wouldn’t this give anyone with access to your Ringcentral account the ability to “sign” your name to anything they choose ?
Instead of duct-taping a solution together, why wouldn’t you just use an electronic signature provider like DocVerify (http://www.docverify.com) ? There are plenty of other similar providers out there, but DocVerify is probably the most focused on small and medium sized businesses.
You get signatures that are enforceable in court, permanent document storage and retrieval, and most importantly it’s super-easy. It’s totally web based and they even have free accounts.
(full disclosure: DocVerify is a client of my company which is how I got to know the electronic signature space)
I would also love to see the app for the Droid phone. I used to have the iphone but AT&T’s bad coverage in my area forced us to go with Verizon. The droid seems to work well for our business.
There’s no “stamps gallery” in the call controller to add a digital signature!!!

My business deals with a lot of forms and I could be very happy to be able to add a digital signature but the forms also come in an Adobe read only format and thus this tech upgrade could help if we can also have a tip on how to fill the form digitally.
I like that RC is not static but dynamic.

Hmm, but where is the Stamp Gallery, I have downloaded the latest version of the Ringcentral call controller to my PC but can’t see an option for “Stamp Gallery” to add my scanned signature image.
Please let me know if any one of you has figured out how to add the signature stamp to the call controller.

For all you that want an adroid app to sign go to your market and search for Sign my pad. Its an app that doesn’t stamp your signature it actually lets you sign over any pdf with no issue and then lets you save it after its signed.
To find the Stamp gallery: Open the RC call controller and click the send a fax button. It will open a window from where to send faxes. Press the edit button and you can see how the fax cover page will look like. Press the edit tab and it give you option for Stamp gallery. Hope this helps.
How round about! No option for Mac?
I tried this on a PC, but the window to browse for images defaults to bmp and does not see the file in the directory…

Hi Keshav, what you may want to try on the PC is to save your signature as .bmp before using it as your signature on the Call Controller. As regards to signing your faxes on the Mac, we apologize that cover page customization is not currently available on the Mac. I have the Ring Central Mobile app on my Android phone. I found it easily in the market place. It doesn’t seem to have all of the functions that I have on the computer but it works fine for my business calls.
